Pie Servers
The Best The OXO 10.5-in. Steel Pie Server (I end up recommending this brand so much, it may get its own area on the site!) is the choice of America’s Test Kitchen. The shape is the closest to an actual pie piece and the narrow tip will make sure that you don’t leave half of your pie slice in the pan. The serrated edges mean that you can cut through difficult crusts without deforming your carefully made creation. Also, like many of the OXO Good Grips brand, this pie server is reasonably priced. (available at Cooking.com, $7.95)
DecorativeWhen choosing an entertaining pie server, I like to find one that is both functional and beautiful. I find the Rosle Cake and Pie Server ($26.95) is both attractive as it is sharp. It works beautifully on cakes, but the lack of joint in the handle still bothers me. It works if your crust is sturdy enough to be angled out of the pan.
PracticalThe RSVP International 10.75-in. Endurance Pie Server is a very interesting model. It allow for fingerless pie serving. The handle has a top lever that slides the food off of the server on to the plate.
I love fun gadgets like this, and what makes it more fun is that you can use it for so much more than pie. It is certainly a conversation piece for any event.
