Pie Self Control: Home Alone with a Pie?

The Set-Up

It's difficult, is it not? You crave something delicious, sweet, home-made or fill in the blank.

You assemble the ingredients, ignore the heaping cups of sugar, butter and oil. After all, you just do what the recipes says, right?

Your mouth waters as the aroma of warm cinnamon apples encased in a buttery, flaky crust fills your home.

You ear your perfect creation, bite by bite. Back to the kitchen with your empty plate, you notice the entire seven-eights of a pie sitting there. The smell still lingers, the buttery warm taste still in your mouth.

What do you do?

Option 1: Mini Pies

Option 1: Mini Pies

This is a personal favorite option. Firstly, obtain the mini apple pie recipe. Divide all amounts of ingredients into quarters (or sixths if you can do that kind of math). Create accordingly.

If your brain fails you and you eat all that you create (after all, you are a masterful chef!) – at least you ate a reasonable portion of pie. Using a few healthy alternatives , you will certainly have no need for self-loathing or guilt!

Note: Please feel free to substitute any [dessert recipe] for the mini Apple pie.

Option 2: Freeze, Thaw and Wait

Take the delicious tempting remainder of your fresh pie and some handy Glad Press n' Seal wrap. After the pie has completely cooled for a few hours, cutting should be easy. Cut moderate portions and wrap individually.

The trick with this method is the thawing process. In letting your portion of individually wrapped pie thaw to room temperature- you must wait one hour to enjoy it.

If you must wait an hour- it is difficult to go overboard.

Another tip: try freezing the pan of mini pies before baking. After they are solid, wrap them individually.

When you are ready for a mini pie- unwrap and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Option 3: Destroy

If all else fails, and you still have trouble. Just knowing it is in the house is creating problems, it is time to destroy the beast.

Step One: Throw in the trash can.

You are done.
