Chantal 1.25-qt. Heart-Shaped Deep Pie Dish, Glossy Red perfect for a romantic dinner.
This is one of my personal favorites because I love uniquely shaped pie plates- it is very rare that you come across a well made one, too!
Chantal 2.25-qt. Apple Deep Dish Pie Pan, Glossy Red
is a fun alternative, especially if you make an apple pie!
My personal favorite is glass, as it is perfect for getting started. They produce awe-inspiring results, as they do not take on the metallic taste of metal pans, especially certain tarts where there is no crust.
The clear sides also allow you to monitor the pies- producing perfect golden, brown crust all the way around. This is always our goal, right?
Note: Glass plates will cook slightly faster than others- so always monitor your pie in the last 10 minutes.
Purchasing Pie Plates by type:
- wide rims will support more elaborate pies- as they hold your delicate crimping and designs throughout the baking
- pie plates with holes in the bottom are great for letting the bottoms brown evenly
- pie plates with nonstick coating are only ever temporary solutions, as the coating tend to fleck off with time
