Measuring Cup Set
Measuring and mixing are essential, yes, but measuring and mixing with function and style is fun! Finding great gadgets and utensils you enjoy using is an art.
I look forward to using my favorites over and over again.
Measuring
Finding long lasting functional measuring cups is the ultimate challenge. Do you find that you are always on the search for new measuring cups? No longer. I have found the ultimate measuring cup style and is what I call the "mini-sauce pan" style, with a sturdy, heavy feel and long handle. I have found my favorites at Williams-Sonoma, but I have also found some great "wallet-friendly" alternatives.
The Williams-Sonoma Stainless-Steel Measuring Cups can go right in the oven - but if that is not a necessity, Oxo Good Grips makes a version that is just as wonderful.
Note: Never buy plastic measuring cups- they are easy to lose, breakable, stainable, and warp at high temperatures.
Mixing
There is nothing like a sturdy, deep measuring bowl and a well built silicone spatula. Your hand mixing is twice as fast and twice as neat. I prefer utensils for mixing that holds temperature well, so I tend to get stainless steel Find out why temperature is so vital to a pie dough making environment
For a great spatula set, my only recommendation is to avoid wooden handles- they warp and detach over time. I have had two great spatulas that I have had to throw away for this very reason.
Indulge Yourself
I know, easy to say- hard to do. Shopping for a KitchenAid stand mixer is such a fun experience. You get sucked in with the attachments and accessories. If only I had a ravioli maker attachment on my future stand mixer, I would make ravioli everyday. But, then you get sticker shock - how can you justify that price? Easy.
I have found the secret. Shop KitchenAid's outlet and refurb store. Rather than shopping ebay, where you may get all parts and it may be clean. The KitchenAid refurbs are just like new and wallet friendly. Click here to visit KitchenAids refurb outlet store.
