Cooking Spices that spice up your favorite pie recipe:

Below are a few recipes that can be varied with the help of a few spices:



For Peach Pie Recipe, add these pie spices:


  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • dash ground cloves


To pumpkin pie, add:
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1-1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
    For something especially unique, try using the gingersnap pie crust!
For Apple Pie Recipe, add these pie spices:

  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1-1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves




Common cooking spices added to pies are:

    cinnamon: This spice comes either ground or in whole pieces, which are long, thin and bark-like. This spice is sweet, fragrant and commonly used.

    cloves: can be found either ground or whole. This is a strong warm spice, so if you are unfamiliar with using it, start with small amounts. Cloves are used with meat dishes, as well as pies and pastries.

    nutmeg: is by taste, slightly sweet, and nutty, and as well as a sweet aroma. This spice can be used in both spicy meals and sweet pastries.

    ginger: This root, when used in sweet dishes is often best ground or powdered. It has a pungent flavor and most famously used in desserts such as gingerbread and gingersnaps.
