Pie supplies for a clean kitchen
These clean kitchen supplies have been gathered because they help you save time and a giant mess in the kitchen. Garbage BowlsYou want a garbage bowl that is sturdy, with a wide open and large base, to prevent tipping. I would recommend that you not use your high quality bowls, because you want something that will not stain or retain odors. You want a bowl that is also a great bargain. I found that the Rachael Ray Brick Garbage Bowl (you can get them at Amazon for $14.99), fit these qualifications very well.
Prep BowlsPrep bowls allow you to get all of your ingredients together for a smooth baking process. This also works well if you are interupted, you just place where you are in the process back in the fridge. The trick with prep bowls, is you want to find your perfect set once and stick with it. Having 3 or 4 different sets with all the different types of lids is more confusing than helpful. The most versitle of the prep bowls are the glass varieties. You can do pretty much anything with them- and sometimes I use mine as double boilers for chocolate. Check out the Williams-Sonoma Glass Prep Bowls, Set of 8 . Mario Batali 5-pc. Italian Kitchen Measuring Prep Bowls, Espresso are extremely useful as they come in measurements ranging in capacity from 1/8 – 2 cups with the halfway point indicated on both the exterior and interior of all five sizes. Pie BirdsWhen I first started baking, I ran across many pie plates offered with pie birds in the middle. I did not understand this at all. I did some research and found that they are used to prevent the filling from boiling over and bursting your top crust. As the filling boils- the birds, placed in the pie before the filling, while a hole is cut around the top layer of crust, let off the steam. Now, I prefer the simpleWhite Porcelain Pie Birds because they do not distract from the pie. ($5.99)
